Playing God

Playing God Playing God What is science? In the nineteenth century many believed it was attempting to play God. During this era new scientific discoveries in Europe were immense, and controversy over them was extreme. Not only did this new movement challenge the principles of Christianity but the belief in God. â€Å"Mary Shelleys Frankenstein through Victor Frankensteins perilous journey shows the destruction behind mans thirst for scientific knowledge and the ethical reasons as to why man should not play God (cite).† Victor Frankenstein attempts to go beyond human bounds and undertake in the greatest mistake of his life. â€Å"Victors experiment created in the name of science holds the key to which Victor believes is his future success (cite).† â€Å"The Accomplishment of his toils† is described as a wretched male figure formed from the corpses of others (Frankenstein, 34). Through his efforts, Frankenstein brings this figure to life, and his desire to succeed and discover impel him to play God. It was the secrets of heaven and earth that [he] desired to learn; and whether it was the outward substance of things or the inner spirit of nature and the mysterious soul of man that occupied [him] (22) (cite.) However, Frankenstein is so deeply captivated with bringing about life that he fails to recognize the moral affects the creature will have on society, and most importantly that there could possibly be an explanation we cant create life unnaturally or be immortal. After the completion of his experiment, Frankenstein begins to recognize some of the consequences when he states, â€Å"how can I describe my emotions at this catastrophe, or how delineate the wretch whom with such infinite pain and care I had endeavoured to form?(34) (cite). Is it not irresponsible and foolish to create life from death, while what is alive is not fully comprehended? When Frankenstein saw his creation and admitted his dissatisfaction, some may ask why he would create such a monster knowing it would definitely not fit into society. The clear explanation would be he fears his own death, thus trying to obtain the knowledge of life to prevent it. â€Å"Frankensteins scientific pursuit is for his selfish means, not for the betterment of society.† Frankenstein remarks by saying, â€Å"The labours of men of genius, however erroneously directed, scarcely ever fail in ultimately turning to the solid advantage of mankind† (34). â€Å"The novel goes on to prove this could be no farther from the truth. By simply addressing the issue that some scientists may be ‘erroneously directed, Frankenstein shows he is considering the ulterior motives of his plans. He is recognizing that his motives may not be for the ‘advantage of man kind, and that this would be simply a bi-product of his creation.† Frankenstein also fails to realize what society would think of his creature and how the creature would be affected by the general public. The creature is sent out into the world with the temperament of man, but entirely lacking the guidance and nurturing that all creatures need. This role playing of God is not what man was intended for, and children are made of a sperm and egg, not the hands of man. Who could handle the responsibility of controlling life? Only a Divine Power could control such an intricate process, and is a responsibility no person could endure. Victor takes many simple things for granted in his life, which are symbolized through the monster. I am alone and miserable: man will not associate with me; but one as deformed and horrible as myself would not deny herself to me (129). All the monster requests is someone to share his life with, to live happily, and be loved; and through these pleasures the monster witnesses happiness. Victors scientific pursuit interferes with his life and ruins his happiness. He loses the desire for companionship because of his endeavors, and though Elizabeth longs for his return, he is too engaged in his work. Frankenstein has an opportunity to be happy, but the monster is never given the chance. â€Å"This presents Shelleys argument that when you allow things such as science to get in the way of your true needs, such as love, you will not live a life worth living. Frankenstein and his monster are both miserable because they both live their life without love.† He solved the most incomprehens ible question, he reached the peak of scientific understanding, he accomplished his goals, yet he is miserable. â€Å"For this I had deprived myself of rest and health. I had desired it with an ardour that far exceeded moderation; but now that I had finished, the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless horror and disgust filled my heart† (42). Shelley purposely lets Frankenstein accomplish his goal, but she makes a point that if the scientific knowledge of life cant bring happiness then no scientific knowledge can. Victor is so infatuated with completing his task and achieving fame that he fails to realize the lasting affects or consequences of his breakthrough. Shelley makes a valid argument that in many ways, we would all be better off without complex scientific thought: â€Å"Learn from me, if not by my precepts, at least by my example, how dangerous is the acquirement of knowledge and how much happier that man is who believes his native town to be the world, than he who aspires to become greater than his nature will allow (38). Victor advises Walton by declaring, â€Å"Seek happiness in tranquility and avoid ambition, even if it be only the apparently innocent one of distinguishing yourself in science and discoveries (200). This passage evidently discusses Victors selfishness in fulfilling his objective. Shelley argues that scientists who are only seeking fame and fortune do not consider the long term effects and will be considered notorious.

The Active Future as Divine :: Philosophy Religion Papers

The Active Future as Divine Normally, activity is regarded as discernible, but according to relativity theory whatever is discernible lies in the past of the discernible. Only the present subjective immediacy is properly active. Subjectivity is properly understood as present becoming; objectivity as past being (so Whitehead). I propose that we extend the domain of subjective immediacy to include the future as well as the present. This future universal activity is pluralized in the present in terms of the many actualities coming into being. Subjectivity is the individualization of becoming, and so can apply to the future as a whole as well as to particular present subjects. The future as divine grows out of Whitehead's revisions of traditional notions of omnipotence and omniscience. But he separates creativity (best understood in terms of Hindu and Buddhist thought) from the God of Western theism. This separation can be overcome if God is future creativity individualized in its own realm, which is the source of the creativity within each of us. Ordinarily we think of the future as a blank background on which we imaginatively project our plans, hopes and fears. Or we may consider it as a receptacle, passively registering the conditions the present and past lays upon it. Once all these conditions are completed, it comes into being-only then it is no longer future but present. As long as it is still future and still indeterminate, we do not see how it could be active. How could the future actively receive and respond to its world? Besides the ordinary passive future we are all familiar with, I wish to propose a notion of the future which can serve as the appropriate mode of divine activity. First, I need to show how an active future is possible. Then I must try to show that God can be appropriately conceived as the activity of the future. In this account I shall be relying heavily on the process philosophy of Alfred North Whitehead, primarily as found in his main work, Process and Reality (1929). In part I shall be presenting his ideas, while in part I shall be building on them in ways he did not foresee. The future is usually considered to be exclusively passive because it lacks any discernible activity. Most deem whatever discernible activity there is to be present, relegating to the past whatever is no longer active. This makes good sense for those who assume that world is constituted out of enduring substances, but it makes less sense if the world is conceived in terms of events.

Cardava Turon

1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARYIf you happen to visit one of your favorite malls here in the town most especially their supermarkets such as SM Hypermarket, Robinson’s Supermarket and Metro Supermarket, you can notice that they are all selling â€Å"turon†, which they started selling a year or a couple of years ago. Turon an all-time favorite Filipino merienda is starting to boom as a profitable business nowadays as not just the local mall supermarket are into the business of selling â€Å"turon† but to almost every canteen in a university. Let’s not go far by looking at Holy Angel University where almost every canteen is selling all-time favorite turon. That is why; we had come up to present â€Å"Cardava Turon† as our original product for the YEntrepMan Business Plan.â€Å"Cardava Turon† came from the word â€Å"Cardava Banana† which means â€Å"Saba Banana† in the Philippines.Cardava Turon was made possible because of the booming  "turon† business. We’ve thought that selling â€Å"turon† could be a better idea to produce a product that is known and saleable. But because of our innovative mind and ideas, we had thought of ways on how to introduce our product more differently and more uniquely. We will not just produce the common type of turon rather we will produce the future best-selling merienda in town, which every individual will crave and that is Cardava Turon.Cardava Turon is basically turon inspired product but with an exciting twist. As we all know that one of the best businesses to venture into nowadays when it comes to food are the siomai carts. Almost everywhere in the city you can see and buy siomai. Thus, we incorporated the well-known siomai to our product by producing our Cardava Turon in siomai style. Cardava Turon is a turon that looks like a fried siomai. In this case we would have our target market to be thrilled and puzzled by looking the appearance of our Cardava Turon. Fried siomai turon Let’s try it!We’re not done yet! We had not just uniquely and creatively modify the turon into siomai style we had also improved the taste and flavor of our turon,  Cardava Turon Original Flavors. We had come up with three different delicious tastes:1.Banana Classic (Langka) Turon – inspired by our classic turon with langka or jackfruit inside. Let the classic taste of turon give you a different kind of experience by having it in siomai style (bite size) turon. 2.Banana Peanut Turon – Original concept, our delicious siomai style turon with grounded peanut inside that will add kick in every bite. Let the bits of peanut thrilled you as it gives you a different taste from the ordinary turon. 3.Cardava Turon Overload – Another original concept, these Cardava Turon with grounded peanuts, marshmallow, and the classic langka inside will definitely give you the taste that you will really enjoy and crave the moment you taste and try it. All three flavors will definitely give you an experience of eating turon more differently and more deliciously. Cardava Turon is certified DHA. Delicious, Healthy and Affordable. We want to give our Cardava Turon lover the convenience that they do not get from the ordinary turon. For the standard size of a turon was 5 to 7 inches that might cause inconvenience to some when eating, thus, we developed our Cardava Turon to be in siomai style so that it would become bite in sizes. This would give a lot of convenience to our market most especially those individual who can’t even consume the standard sized turon. Cardava Turon prices are 15php for four pieces and 30phpfor eight pieces comes in an eco-friendly box. It was price low because our pricing objective i s to penetrate the market as our product is the first of its kind. But according to the Doctors of Ministry in Alternative Medicines or DMAM, Cardava (Saba) banana has the highest nutrients present. †¢Cardava has the highest content of nutrients because it has the deepest roots among other banana plants, of which can absorb more nutrients from the soil. †¢Because bananas are rich in potassium, they help the body’s circulatory system deliver oxygen to the brain. †¢Maintains a regular heartbeat and a proper balance of water in the body. †¢Helpful for reducing strokes and regulating blood pressure because of the way it promotes circulatory health.†¢Their abundance of vitamins and minerals, are a great source of natural energy. †¢Bananas are also ideal for eating during that midday lull when you feel tired and sluggish. Instead of drinking caffeine or having a sugary snack, bananas provide a level of energy that lasts longer without the dramatic crash caused by caffeine. †¢Help stop constipation because bananas have a certain type of fiber that helps to restore and maintain regular bowel functions. Bananas are a natural source for lessening the effects of constipation without causing other bowel problems such as diarrhea.†¢The natural ingredients in bananas and their ability to replenish the body’s vitamins make them an ideal way to reduce the effects of a hangover. †¢Bananas can help people who are trying to quit smoking. The B vitamins and other minerals that they contain reduce the physical and psychological effects of nicotine withdrawal. †¢Vitamin B6 can also minimize menstrual pains and regulates over all moods of women. †¢Because of their calming properties, pregnant women often eat bananas to combat their morning sickness. †¢Also help to replenish the body and restore a hea lthy blood glucose level. †¢Help regulate a pregnant woman’s temperature.†¢As a way to prevent and treat ulcers, bananas help reduce the acidity that some foods can leave in the stomach. †¢Help reduce the irritation of the digestive system by leaving a protective coating around the inner walls, making it a natural way to promote intestinal health as well. †¢They are  also a great way to get rid of heartburn. They act as a natural antacid and they quickly soothe the burn.Instead of eating an apple each day for optimum health, the adage should state that a â€Å"banana each day keeps the doctor away†. The banana health benefits far outweigh those of the apple because it has many more vitamins and nutrients than their round counterparts.3. BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT 3.1 National TrendsBasically the only national trend that can hinder the growth of Cardava Turon in the market is when the cardava (saba) banana supplies will be scarce for it is the main ingre dients to our product—Cardava Turon. There are some issues nowadays that talks about the becoming scarce of the said banana but still there are none facts that can prove the latter issue. Thus, Cardava Turon business is in good position and will expect continuous supply of raw resources. The launching of Cardava Turon could be a good indication to our economy and even internationally for we will cater products that are originally from the Philippines. Cardava Turon would strengthen the local banana economy rather than those that are being exported to the other countries. Thus, it will just show how the Philippines can be competitive and can be known worldwide.3.2 Industry AnalysisThe local banana industry at this present day is not as active as before because of the growing export business, though there are still businesses of banana industry such those farmers, wholesalers and retailers. With regards to merienda business specifically those who sells turon, there are a lot of small competition for we can see even at the street corner of Angeles City there are those who sell turon but because Cardava Turon is not just an ordinary turon which is definitely the first of its kind, we can say that we are not deeply affected of those vendors of turon.3.3 Market AnalysisSpecifically there are no markets for siomai style turon with delicious variances here in Angeles City and maybe the whole of the Philippines. However â€Å"turon† is being patronized here in the community, thus, those will be considered as the new market for Cardava Turon. There are still markets for turon that we could cater with.3.4 Competitor AnalysisCardava Turon will have to face and consider a lot of competition for it is not the only turon business in town, most especially even SM malls and Ayala Malls’ food courts are selling their own class of turon. But Cardava Turon is not just an ordinary turon; it is a turon with a lot of exciting twist. It is the first of its kind a nd none in the whole of Angeles City area are selling such turon with different flavors and in siomai style. Thus, Cardava Turon competition will be minimal.4. Also we will provide food warmer to store all the cooked products and to be used for display purposes, small cabinets are to be used for non-perishable goods. Preparation table is also considered necessary when making Cardava Turon products including also all the necessary cooking tools and gadgets to make the operation efficiently.6.6 Work FlowAll personnel who are working at the main office will be working eight hours weekdays depending on the volume of their work. Office hours would be from 8:00am until 5:00pm, but flexible working hours will do also. As to the stall/kiosk the operations would be from Mondays through Sundays, operations will start at 7:00am until 9:00pm though business hours will just start at 8:00am until  8:00pm.There will be three shifts in a day: the opener from 7:00am-3:00pm, the mid-shift from 10:00am-7:00pm and the closer from 1:00pm-9:00pm. Initially stalls will be manned by only three people who include a stall supervisor and two sales associate. The stall supervisor will be in charge of the scheduling. He can decide on his own on who would be assigned in the shifts, preferably the mid-shift will be the stall sup. So that he/she can monitor well the operations of their stall. As our business grows we intend to hire additional sales associate to make our operations even more efficient.6.7 Production RisksPreventive measures are to be implemented to lessen or decrease the possibility of being hurt and injured in the production of all Cardava Turon products. We will make sure that all employees especially the sales associate are properly trained with regard on the production or cooking of Cardava Turon. First aid kit will be provided to all Cardava Turon kiosks. Stall Supervisor will be responsible for checking all the ne cessary machines and equipments if they are working properly and effectively. Before and after the business operations, checklist will be provided to be accomplished by whoever was assigned to check the quality and performance of all goods, materials and equipments. This includes checking the quality of all raw materials/goods. Delivery schedules will be monitored, as well as all the necessary issues concerning supplier relations and logistics.6.9 Inventory ManagementIn order for the inventory to be more accurate, there will be two types of inventory to be done. The first one is to be accomplished by all stall supervisors for each kiosk which is to be done daily. And the second type of inventory, the monthly inventory to be supervised by Kresta and Jeiel, which they will evaluate and check the accuracy of all the daily inventories. The  company will provide standard inventory checklist to be used by all Cardava Turon stalls/kiosks.6.10 Quality ControlEach store will offer nothing but freshly and quality Cardava Turon products. Standard procedure for preparation and cooking of the product will be well developed by our R&D team Aldrian and Mark. Arthur will be responsible for the high quality raw goods that are to be used. Is It Really Worth It - 1434 Words

Is It Really Worth It? Has anyone ever thought about the consequences? Will one time be okay? Will my friends stop aggravating me to drink if I do? Will this really make me feel better? Most people never even think about these questions, it just wanders to the back of their mind. Before making a choice like teen drinking, they need to take a step back from the peer pressure and the depression. Peer pressure can play a major role on young teens who consume alcoholic beverages. Another big role that takes part is teens being depressed because their boyfriend/girlfriend broke up or had a fight. Which can also lead to peer pressure, by having friends that want to cheer them up and there is a huge party at Bryan’s that night. Long story†¦show more content†¦Anyone can come to a conclusion that this song influences underage drinking in several ways. Many feel pressured by the artist to drink since; the singer is cool and hip. The two main reasons, among many others, are young teens drinking by peer pressure and depression. The facts of underage drinking are a bit shocking in some ways. â€Å"Underage drinking refers to the consumption of beverage alcohol†¦by persons 20 years of age and younger† (â€Å"Underage Drinking Glossary†). According to the article, Teens and Alcohol, around one and ten teenagers under the age of fourteen drink, and three in ten teens drink from the ages fifteen to seventeen. If those teens continue to drink it becomes addictive to the body. â€Å"They need to drink alcohol in order to function normally, and their drinking causes problems† (â€Å"Teens and Alcohol† 2). Nobody should have to turn out like this. The law of the legal drinking age of twenty-one, came in 1988. This law is still to this day not obeyed and causes traumatizing experiences. Although teen Americans drink for two main causes, the effects of drinking are diverse throughout them. In the book, the Night He Died by Brian F. Hoeflinger, it talks about the life wrecking experience about his son’s death. His son died in a car accident. He was under the influence and was angered, but continued to choose driving. He struck a tree and was taken to two different hospitals. â€Å"Brian was unconscious but with a faint heartbeat and barely

The Era Of The French Revolution - 1128 Words

Backgrounds Born in 1749, Paris born Adà ©laà ¯de Labille-Guiard was the youngest of eight children in a bourgeois family. Her mater was a merchant who owned a hat shop. There was much call for reform during her lifetime, the era of the French Revolution. There was a strong reaction against the fanciful Rococo by the 1760s. The goal of the movement was to â€Å"inspire virtue and purify manners† (Stokstad 708). French portrait painters moved toward naturalist poses and more everyday settings. Elegant informality continued to be featured, but new themes were introduced, figures tended to be larger and more robust, and compositional arrangements were more stable. The Enlightenment brought with it ideas of tolerance and liberty. There was a change in social status, leading to the admittance of women into the academy, a position which had formerly been reserved for men alone. With the rise of women in the academy, many leading portraitists were women, such as Labille-Guiard. Her style flatters the painter’s conventional feminine charms in a manner generally consistent with the Rococo tradition, but a comparison with similar images of women such as Fragonard reveals the more monumental female type Labille-Guiard favored. This was in keeping with her conception of women as important contributors to national life, which is an Enlightenment impulse. A century and a half later, Frida Kahlo was born in 1907, also a time of change. Truman Vs. Lyndon Johnson - 1253 Words

In United States History there has been forty-four Presidents, there have been a few great ones, a bunch of good ones and some bad ones. By looking at the Presidencies of Teddy Roosevelt, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman and Lyndon Johnson we see how good character traits led to good policymaking. By analyzing these five Presidents we can see that the character traits of Presidents determine their policy making and reestablishes the framework of the United States. Theodore Roosevelt’s character traits of compassion, fair-play, honesty and decency played out through his pro-working class, anti-trust policies which strengthened the progressive movement in the United States. While Teddy Roosevelt had a privileged background he sympathized with poor Americans that were forced to live in extreme poverty due to corporate greed. Roosevelt believed the government was needed to stop the exploitation of the working class and create livable standards, in his own words, â€Å"government’s duty to protect women and children must be extended to protection of all crushable elements of labor† (Boerner, 2011). One of Roosevelt’s signature achievements was the abolition of child labor. During these times children were working long extensive hours in harsh conditions to provide for their families. The child labor laws got children out of factories and in schools to get educated. Teddy Roosevelt’s pro-working class agenda streng thened the progressive movement in America. Celebrations Throughout the Year Essay Example For Students

Celebrations Throughout the Year Essay Outline1 Celebrations2 Dangers of Celebrations3 Situational Leadership4 Celebration Strategies5 Conclusion Celebrations Each year at Christmas, my employer goes to great lengths to gather everyone together for a formal sit down dinner and party to celebrate the values and victories of our organization (Johnson, 2014, slide 6) throughout the year. This tradition started back in 1960 when my employer, North Huntingdon EMS/Rescue was first founded. Our founding members set of core values were simple, service above self and humility at all times. With the passing of time, these traditions and values have been managed to be passed on to generation after generation of both career and volunteer employees. While we continue to celebrate those core values and the many positive changes that have occurred in our profession, we also take the time to acknowledge the difficulties and failures so we can learn and change. This gathering truly is not just a party, but a period of reflection; although this celebration focuses on the overall accomplishments of the company, personal accomplishments are not overlooked and are acknowledged just the same. Ask anyone in my profession and they will tell you flat out they are overworked and underpaid, our jobs are difficult, but most are not in it for the money, they see it as a true calling. My employer realizes this difficulty, and in effort to stay on target and accomplish organizational goals (Johnson, 2014, slide 5) personal acknowledgement of others is also priority. What is unique about our celebration is that it is done in the spirit of community (Johnson, 2014, slide 6) and is open to everyone. Our celebration is also attended by other professionals in public safety and elected officials, this serves as our way of exposing them to our difficulties, and present as an organization that is credible with a clear and common vision (Kouzes Posner, 2008, p. 151) of helping others. Lastly, this celebration creates a sense of fun and joy (Johnson, 2014, slide 6) among the staff; this is a greatly needed release for everyone when encountering the suffering and death of others on a continual basis. This celebration is also a time for story telling (Johnson, 2014, slide 6), and I cannot help myself from mingling with the retired leaders of the organization and hear their stories of triumph and sorrow from years gone by. They were in love (Kouzes Posner, 2008, p. 156) with what they did, and although they no longer lead the organization and have turned it over to others, it is evident they remain in love with they did and the way they lead. Why has my employer been successful in surviving when others have failed? Our leaders have always stuck to our basic core values and simply have encouraged the heart of others in everything they have ever done and continue to do. Longevity of our career staff is apparent of that. Dangers of Celebrations Celebrations are good things and truly they need to occur, but I would like to take the time to point out a pitfall of celebrations. All too many celebrations focus on success and I believe they can create a condition called overconfidence-bias (Gino Pisano, 2011, para. 4) whereby success creates an over abundance of self assurance. Faith is certainly a good thing, but it can be detrimental when it clouds our vision of the need to change (Gino Pisano, 2011, para. 4). Celebrations also need to be used to provide stakeholders a strong dose or realism and hope (Ford, 1991, location 3372) for overcoming difficulty, and a time for learning. All too often celebrations are focused on winning (Gino Pisano, 2011, para. 8) when they also could be used as a method of collecting data of what is wrong with an organization (Gino Pisano, 2011, para. 8). Leaders do not look at data when they are winning (Gino Pisano, 2011, para. 8) and not all stakeholders are happy with an organization during a celebration, why not use this as a tool to acknowledge and learn from them as well? It only seems logical to take the good with the bad; what a perfect time to do both. This may seem contradictory, but on one hand the celebration acknowledges positive attitudes for the future and on the other hand it acknowledges the fact that the future is not easy and not everyone is happy (Ford, 1991, location 3378) thus taking the overconfidence-bias (Gino Pisano, 2011, para. 4) and danger out of the celebration. You better enjoy 'em while you can, a man says as he passes my son and I playing at the park EssayWhen continuing my search of leader celebration strategies I had difficulty finding any other particular individual who had a proven method of celebrating their employees. Instead, I ran across the New York based company Con-Edison who has a unique way of celebrating their employees through an annual breakfast (con-edison, 2012, para. 2). The breakfast is termed the EHS Excellence Awards and is the highest honor the company bestows on its employees and stakeholders (con-edison, 2012, para. 2). Awards are given for achievements in advancing the environmental mission of the company, safety, and both individual and team accomplishments (con-edison, 2012, para. 2). The categories for the awards are then broken down into five distinctive objectives: improve safety performance, strengthen environment, health and safety compliance, enhancing relationships with stakeholders, identification and reduction of risk, and promotion of the wise and effective use of natural resources (con-edison, 2012, para. 2). Employees who have earned three or more EHS Excellence Awards are then appointed into the company’s Circle of Excellence (con-edison, 2012, para. 2). Con-Edison also distributes Team Awards (con-edison, 2012, para. 2) twice a year to teams who make positive contributions to corporate values, and lastly they distribute only six Living Our Values Awards (con-edison, 2012, para. 3) to individuals who physically demonstrate the ability to live out Con-Edison’s values in their everyday work. When studying Con-Edison’s celebration strategy it is clear that all employees are given opportunities to be peak performers (Ford, 1991, location 3364) and that leadership and upholding the values of the company is everyone’s business (Kouzes Posner, 2008, p. 141). Evidence of employee buy in into this strategy is unmistakable, as nearly 200 names are posted as various award recipients on the Con-Edison website. Conclusion I took some time earlier to examine situational leadership as I had a notion that celebration strategies were tied into this brand of leadership. As I continued my research, I had discovered that celebrations themselves are situational and that all leaders in both the clergy and business world are indeed, in some form, a situational leader. I can also conclude there is no right or wrong way to celebrate employees and accomplishments, celebrations are truly up to the imagination of the leader. One other takeaway from this lesson is that leaders are constantly learning, (Kouzes Posner, 2008, p. 147) and celebrations should be included in the leader’s toolbox to increase their situational awareness on the health or their company and the morale of their employees. As I also stated earlier, there is danger in celebrations and that danger is in the treachery of hubris (Kouzes Posner, 2008, p. 152). Celebrations can inflate both the ego of the leader and the employee and as such be counterproductive in the fact that it causes one to lose sight of the vision and values of the company (Kouzes Posner, 2008, p. 152). Approach everything, including celebrations with humility (Kouzes Posner, 2008, p. 153) and grace. After all humility is the way of the Lord and indeed, it is the only way.
